It all happened this week
Regional Express (Rex) and Mangalore Airport Pty Limited (MAPL) announced on 1 November that they have signed an MOU for a Joint Venture to create a new Professional Pilot Academy to be named the Civil Aviation Training Academy (CATA). This Academy will be situated at Mangalore Airport, Victoria, one and a half hours from Melbourne CBD, and is expected to receive its first batch of 20 students on 10 December 2007.

We are sure that many of our clients will identify with Keith Wallace who gained his Pilot Licence in Sydney, at the Illawarra Flying School in1961 at the age of 17. This necessitated taking a day off school, and his class teacher was quite unimpressed.

It took a few years of work to then pay for the hours necessary to get a Commercial Licence. This was finally achieved in 1966, and he went onto work up a most impressive CV some of which was reported in the last issue of Happenings.
